Europäische Christdemokraten erkennen Genozid an den Armeniern an

Die Europäischen Christdemokraten (EVP) haben am 03.03.2015 als stärkste politische Kraft des Europäischen Parlaments den Genozid an den Armeniern anerkannt und die Türkei aufgefordert sich ihrer Geschichte zu stellen.

Diese folgenreiche Beschlussfassung fand in den deutschen Medien kaum Beachtung. 

Bemerkenswert ist, dass die CDU Deutschland, als größte vertretende Partei in der EVP, sich bisher zur Resolution bedeckt hält und selbst eine kurze Meldung über die Anerkennung der Armenier-Resolution durch die EVP unterlässt. 

Möglicherweise um die revisionistische Haltung der Bundeskanzlerin Merkel zu stützen? 

“This support from Europe’s ruling political force is of key importance for the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people. The resolution’s title suggests that the largest European political family, the EPP, in its policy is also guided by the value system which is the basis of the ideology of Armenian Genocide recognition: recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide, paying tribute to the tragedy’s victims, as well as calling on Turkey to confront its past and build up future with its neighbors, overcoming the past,” he said.
